We began this journey 2 years ago. We have documented the process of stabilizing the bridge in preparation for the work to be done safely and have followed each stage of the job as it has unfolded since then, season to season in every kind of weather. We have been researching, filming, interviewing and editing. We will continue to meet with organizations and individuals who hold bits and pieces of this story. We are excited about all the interesting people we have met and are yet to meet and hope you will reach out if you have anything to share…

THE BRIDGE RESTORATION: WHAT needed to be done and HOW was it done?

This large-scale construction/engineering project is fascinating. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to give the public a peek of the process. We have documented the two-year plus project with video, drone footage and still imagery as it unfolded. We will be creating technical CGI animation to help illustrate the science and engineering. We are interviewing key workers to explain how 21st century technology is giving a new life to this marvel of 20th century grace and engineering. We plan to document the opening, in 2024, of the newly restored bridge in all its glory.

UNCOVERING THE STORIES: Vision and Community

The Wurts Street Bridge has been saved from the wrecking ball. Our story expands to include other restoration projects in Kingston, a place with a long, complicated history and a wealth of architectural jewels. We profile the people who had the vision and spirit to spearhead these projects, but importantly, we are engaging scholars and researchers to shine a light on the workers and the communities who built these structures originally. What are their stories?
